What Are The Australian Intakes for International Students?

There are two main intakes of international students who enter Australia each year. Either the February or July semesters are open for applications. You can organize your study time as best suits your schedule. Let’s look at the intakes for international students:

February Intake

The majority of students enroll at Australian universities during the February intake, generally known as Semester 1. The Australian school year runs on a schedule that differs significantly from the rest of the globe. The fact that Australia is located in the southern hemisphere means that its seasons are opposite to those in the northern hemisphere. Australia's academic year begins in the autumn, or fall, in February. The majority of institutions offer the most courses during the fall semester. The intake is the most often used part of the system.

July Intake

Australian universities normally have two major admissions per year, with the second one occurring in the summer during the months of July and August. The term "winter intake" applies to this period in Australia. You can still apply for the upcoming intake in July or August if you miss the February or March deadline.

September Intake

Did you know that certain institutions have what is called a "third intake," or September, October, or November? If you want to start university later in the year, you should still give it some thought, even if the number of universities and courses available is smaller. Beginning your program in August or September is a good idea if you're adhering to a calendar more commonly used in the northern hemisphere. Fortunately, a few Australian universities use a trimester system and provide students with three different intakes each year.
